Project Notes: Hillmorton Georgian Town House Kitchen
The Brief:
Our clients in Hillmorton wanted a beautifully crafted traditional kitchen that would feel sympathetic to the character of their Georgian townhouse while still offering the practicality expected from a modern family kitchen. The aim was to create a refined, elegant space with classic detailing, generous storage and a sociable kitchen island that would work equally well for everyday use and entertaining.
As a cellar kitchen, the design needed to feel bright, welcoming and carefully balanced, with timeless finishes that would complement the period architecture of the home.
The Design:
For this Hillmorton kitchen project, our Eat Soak Sleep kitchen designers produced a bespoke hand-crafted in-frame traditional kitchen, using a rich dark blue cabinetry finish with aged brass detailing to create a classic and sophisticated look. The cabinetry features solid oak dovetail drawer boxes, a bespoke pantry unit and elegant Hendel & Hendel aged brass handles, giving the kitchen a truly premium, furniture-like feel.
The layout is arranged as an L-shaped kitchen with island, creating a practical flow between the main cooking, preparation and washing-up areas. The island provides valuable worktop space, storage and informal seating, with a built-up quartz surface used to create a chunky, statement design.
A ceramic Belfast sink, quartz worktops and matching upstands reinforce the traditional feel while keeping the kitchen highly practical, whilst pendant lighting above the island and brass-toned finishing touches bring softness and elegance to the completed room. The natural flagstone limestone flooring adds warmth, texture and authenticity, working beautifully with the Georgian setting.
Premium integrated AEG appliances were specified, including an integrated dishwasher, integrated fridge freezer, combination oven and microwave, warming drawer and induction hob. A Quooker Cube System adds further convenience, providing a modern finishing touch within the classic kitchen design.
The Result:
This Hillmorton Georgian townhouse kitchen demonstrates how a traditional kitchen can be designed for modern living without compromising on character. By combining bespoke hand-crafted cabinetry, a practical L-shaped layout with island, premium quartz worksurfaces, integrated AEG appliances, a ceramic Belfast sink and natural limestone flooring, Eat Soak Sleep created a kitchen that feels elegant, timeless and perfectly suited to its period home setting.
