Project Notes: Hillmorton Crittall Extension
The Brief:
Our clients in Hillmorton wanted a dramatic, contemporary kitchen that would sit beautifully within their Crittall-style extension. The goal was to create a bold, architectural space with strong visual impact, while still offering excellent storage, luxury appliances and a practical layout for everyday living. With large areas of glazing, garden views and an open-plan feel, the kitchen needed to balance darker industrial finishes with warmth, texture and carefully considered lighting.
The Design:
For this Hillmorton kitchen project, our Eat Soak Sleep kitchen designers created a striking Rotpunkt German kitchen with a rich mix of wood-effect cabinetry, porcelain drawer fronts and sleek dark finishes. The design works perfectly with the Crittall-style glazing, creating a confident, modern look with an industrial edge. The statement kitchen island features porcelain drawer fronts and a durable porcelain worktop, providing generous preparation space as well as a sociable bar area with seating. Matching porcelain surfaces continue through the worktop and backsplash, giving the scheme a seamless, high-end finish.
A bank of tall wood-effect units provides streamlined storage and houses the integrated appliances, while the Crittall glass cabinets add a distinctive feature that ties beautifully into the architectural glazing of the extension. Integrated feature lighting highlights the horizontal lines of the design and creates a warm, atmospheric glow in the evening.
High performance AEG appliances were selected to support the sleek modern finish, including an AEG matt black pyrolytic oven, AEG matt black combination oven and microwave, AEG matt black warming drawer. It also includes a Novy induction venting hob with tower extractor, Quooker tap, and Caple undercounter wine cooler.
The Result:
This Hillmorton Crittall extension kitchen demonstrates how a modern German kitchen can become a true architectural feature. By combining a Rotpunkt kitchen, porcelain worktops, wood-effect units, Crittall glass detailing, integrated lighting and premium appliances, Eat Soak Sleep created a bold, luxurious kitchen that feels stylish, practical and perfectly connected to the garden.
