Project Notes: Coventry Kitchen Design
The Brief:
Our clients in Coventry wanted a striking, contemporary kitchen that would feel sleek, practical and sociable while making the most of their newly opened-up living space. The aim was to create a modern kitchen design with clean lines, generous storage and a bold contrast between dark cabinetry, light worksurfaces and warm flooring.
As this was an open-plan kitchen, the layout needed to work beautifully for everyday family life while also providing a stylish setting for dining and entertaining.
The Design:
For this Coventry kitchen project, we designed an L-shaped kitchen with island, creating a practical flow between the main cooking, preparation and washing-up areas. The dark kitchen cabinetry gives the space a confident, contemporary look, while the crisp white worksurfaces add contrast and help keep the room feeling bright and open.
The kitchen island provides additional preparation space and creates a natural divide between the kitchen and dining area. The island’s clean, handleless appearance keeps the overall design minimal and uncluttered, while the surrounding layout ensures everything remains close to hand. Natural light also plays an important role in the finished space, with roof glazing and large black-framed doors helping to brighten the room throughout the day. The herringbone flooring completes the aesthetic, introducing warmth and texture, whilst softening the darker tones and giving the kitchen a welcoming, homely feel.
The Result:
This Coventry kitchen perfectly demonstrates how a dark modern kitchen can feel both bold and inviting. By combining a practical L-shaped layout, a central island, elegant worksurfaces and a refined contemporary finish, Eat Soak Sleep created a kitchen that is highly functional, visually striking and perfectly suited to modern open-plan living.
